    About Spot

Searx is a free metasearch engine that aggregates results from more than 70 search services while respecting the privacy of its users. Unlike traditional search engines, Searx does not track or profile its users. It provides a decentralized approach to web search, allowing individuals to run their own instances, thereby maintaining full control over their search data and avoiding the 'filter bubble' effect. The project is entirely open-source and built primarily in Python. It allows for deep customization, enabling users to enable or disable specific search engines, use proxied images and results to prevent leaking IP addresses to third parties, and interface with various APIs. While the original repository by Adam Tauber (asciimoo) is currently archived, the project's legacy continues through various community forks, most notably SearxNG.
