About Anytype
Anytype is a decentralized, local-first productivity tool designed to give users total sovereignty over their digital data. Developed by a Swiss association and a Berlin-based team, it serves as a private alternative to cloud-dependent platforms like Notion. The architecture is built on the AnySync protocol, which allows data to be stored on-device and synchronized across user devices via peer-to-peer connections without the need for a central server. The platform functions as a unified workspace for notes, tasks, databases, and wikis, utilizing a block-based system and advanced visualizations like graph views. Security is a core focus, with mandatory end-to-end encryption where keys are held exclusively by the user. While the primary application is free for local use, the project sustains itself through a membership model. It follows an open philosophy, making its source code for desktop, mobile, and backend components public for community contribution and audit.
